2020 has been a challenging year for our country, our educators, and our leaders. Hear how Mackey Pendergrast, 2020 New Jersey Superintendent of the Year, has doubled down on his commitments to equity and achievement in Morris School District by holistically and systematically supporting all students.

Join Superintendent Pendergrast as he presents his experiences:

  • Focusing on equity to remove barriers so that each student can achieve their full potential, access to educational opportunities for all students, inclusion to cultivate individual and group sense of belonging as a valued member of the community, and systemic inequity and racism to dismantle and replace the systems--practices, policies, programs, and habits-- of a school district that perpetuate inequity and are detrimental to marginalized communities of color.
  • Developing a “learner positioning system” to support the whole child in Morris School District, as well as the evolution of this system throughout the 2020 school year
  • Understanding student experiences with diversity and equity, as well as other key sources of equity data, to put together a high velocity root cause analysis of achievement and experience gaps in schools
  • Creating a web of relationships to support each and every student
  • Leading through the “twin pandemics” of 2020
