With darker and colder days ahead—and with the looming holiday season—many of our students may experience dips in their engagement, "checking out" of their learning and from the broader school community. As educators continue to grapple with the aftermaths of the pandemic, including an undeniable lag in student morale and motivation, "checking in" with our students is more important than ever. In this virtual event, we examine best practices on how to leverage frequent check-ins to address the academic, social, and emotional needs of our students.
Join us for an expert Q&A to learn from district leaders who found unique and effective ways to "check in" with students before they "check out." Together, we will:
- Identify common stressors associated with the holiday season and discuss their implications on student social-emotional health, academic outcomes, and behavior
- Examine the importance of frequent student check-ins, including its impact on relationship building, student well-being, and school community morale
- Share best practices for effective student check-ins, such as establishing routines and collecting meaningful data to inform action at the individual and system level
- Learn how to collect quick perception data that not only deliver frequent and rapid help, but also implications for long-term interventions and support
