EdWeek-8-Olathe

Featuring the Panorama Research Team and Olathe Public Schools

59 minutes - November 12, 2018

By measuring and growing students’ social-emotional learning, districts like Olathe Public Schools (KS), are improving key student outcomes—improving academics, decreasing chronic absenteeism, and graduating students who are prepared to thrive in college, career, and life.

In this webinar, Panorama presents new research on the connections between students’ social-emotional learning and critical student outcomes. Panorama’s research team provides recommendations for districts to approach and monitor social-emotional learning in ways that are responsive to key district priorities.

Dr. Jessica Dain and school leaders from Olathe Public Schools share the district’s approach to building students’ social-emotional skills to support student growth. In addition to universal SEL screening and programming, Dain focuses on social-emotional growth for students receiving additional supports, such as English-language-learners and students in special education programs.
